Thomas Wright is a Senior Advisor with International Capital Strategies. He is also a senior fellow with the Strobe Talbott Center for Security, Strategy and Technology at the Brookings Institution. He is also a contributing writer at The Atlantic and a non resident fellow at the Lowy Institute for International Policy in Sydney. He served as Special Assistant to the President and senior director for strategic planning at the National Security Council from 2022-25. He is the author of All Measures Short of War: The Contest for the 21st Century and the Future of American Power and co-author with Colin Kahl of Aftershocks: Pandemic Politics and the End of the Old International Order. His research interests include U.S. alliances, the Russia-Ukraine war, U.S. - China relations, U.S. national security policy, and the geopolitics of artificial intelligence.
